You have a distant memory of a time when people were more connected.
When the barriers between us felt smaller.
These days, people seem destined to grow further and further apart and our attempts at unity seem futile.
But - in a time when we are purposefully being polarized, is there a more radical deed than spending our time by coming together? The artists at Navatman and Baila Society are proud to offer a show that is defiant and unapologetic. A cry to the past, a yearning for a better future, an outstretched hand reaching across borders.

This year, our exploration is of our stories of the past through the lens of the present. Through the proud cultures and traditions of Latin and Indian dance we come together once more for not just one but two programs in the arts.
Take part with us and show that communities like Baila Society and Navatman can find solidarity, hope and still dream of a new world even in the face of an ever darkening present.

What we need now
In this moment, Navatman and Baila Society are working towards two new fully choreographed programs and one with completely new compositions from scratch by a number of world class artists. We have been building this program for now what feels like 2 years from Roots of Resilience 1 - from scratch and it has been a labor of love. The music is beautiful and the dancing is coming together but the full time artists are currently all donating parts of their time towards the show - because that is how much we fiercely believe in what we are doing.
Any monetary or fiscal giving would be a huge support to both Baila Society and Navatman at this time to help make sure passion solely is not what we live on and that we can continue producing and sharing the art, representation, music and dance you want to listen to and be inspired by in this world.
All funds will go towards the creation - and hopefully touring - of this production.

Program AWhen the sun rises (working title for Program A) combines the arts of salsa, Latin Hustle, bharatanatyam, and kathak but has a completely newly composed musical score of shared music across styles featuring Lulada Club musicians Andrea Chavarro, Katherine Ocampo, Daniela Serna, alongside Manual Marquez, Ayamey Bell Torriente, Juan Pulido, Radhika Iyer, Shraman Sen and Sanjay Natesan.

Program BThe Journey Begins (working title for Program B) leads both Baila Society's and Navatman's entire dancing communities beyond our professional contingent to find ways to collaborate and grow alongside each other.

There is so much beauty to unlock in the world, but it can only be unveiled if we take collective action and join forces with those who need us in these critical moments.
