The sarangi is a deeply haunting instrument, one that requires a depth of devotion and understanding to bring out the melodic sounds of the strings. Kamal Sabri, a 7th generation artist, has spent his life “serving the sarangi,” as he says, quiet and peacefully unwavering in educating audiences around the world about it. In this concert, he will explore repertoire from both the Hindustani and ghazal traditions - sometimes singing, sometimes playing sarangi, both together and separate, exuding prowess over the difficult instrument. As an artist whose work has been in Grammy nominated albums who has also toured extensively around the world, Kamal says his purpose is to heal people through the vibrations of sound, making this concert ultimately a peaceful and soothing experience for the attendees.
