What Does Progress Look Like?
Individual progress:
Even if you feel you are not openly talented, that does not mean you do not have a gift for this or are not progressing. Every single person’s path is wildly different in an arts space.
Trust the process!
The best analogy about progress we can give is this: as a plant grows, you cannot uproot the plant to check if the roots are taking. Sometimes you lose some leaves, other times, you need some pruning. In the same way, constantly worrying about progress is counterproductive. The teacher will always sees you and is trying to guide you in the path that’s best for you.
This is a lifelong learning system that is nonlinear and is expected to support you in every aspect of life. That means certain corrections and shifts of thought can take years to settle.
Meetings/Where we touch base:
We have mandatory mid year reviews and beginning of the year goal setting each year. Parents are expected to set aside 15 minutes per subject to come in person with their child to understand where they are and their needs as such. The schedule and sign-up sheet comes out in early January and are usually around the MLK holiday.
