Indrani Khare: Hindustani Vocal Recital


Indrani’s journey into the musical world began when she was about 6 years old. She began learning vocal music from Mrs. Shukla Dam in Shillong back in India. During her training with Mrs. Shukla Dam, Indrani learnt various forms of Bengali Music including Rabindra Sangeet, Nazrul Geeti, Atul Prasadi, Bhatiali, Adhunik Bangla Gaan etc. From the early days of childhood Indrani has been giving public performances. She has won many accolades by performing at and winning various competitions in India. She has also performed for Guwahati Doordarshan in Assam and All India Radio Shillong. Indrani completed her Visharad in Rabindra Sangeet with distinction under the tutelage of Mrs. Shukla Dam.

Since last 17 years, Indrani has been learning Hindustani Classical music from Mrs. Mitali Banerjee Bhawmik. With her guru’s able guidance Indrani has been a recipient of the Folk Arts Apprenticeship awarded by the “New Jersey State Council on the Arts” for four years for pursuing Hindustani Classical Music. She was also awarded “Ragini” award by the North American Bengali Association for her talent and dedication in Hindustani Classical music. Indrani has performed at various concerts in the United States and India.
