Donate to Navatman - help us pass on the Indian arts for generations to come
2024 was a great, stable year for us. We'll be introducing all new programming in 2025, so if Navatman was a great addition to your life, consider donating now!
Our fundraiser event will be a Winter Soiree with Songs of Resistance and Songs of Freedom which has been a multiple-year project in the making - Sahasra's first full-length solo choreography in both Kathak and Bharatanatyam, alongside newly composed music by the head of the music department and long time Navatman artist Taniya Panda.
The two works together explore how we can all live in diversity: in resistance to a world that seems to be burning around us while reminding ourselves that joy and hope are our prerogatives to find even when all seems lost.
This event is not just a solo, it is a reflection and celebration of 2024 and speaks to Navatman's 2025 vision. In 2024, Navatman and Baila Society joined forces for a uniquely New York City experience: a place where two women-led arts organizations based on cultural traditions of the Afro-Cuban arts (salsa) and Indian arts (Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Hindustani and Carnatic music) came together.
The two spaces work to explore how the force of artists and students working together can promote, define, and create a shared sense of stability, strength, safety, joy, and love within communities at large - particularly through artistic expression and endeavors.
Thus, Sahasra's solo will tie in with a day-long celebration of art and culture with Baila Society.
Part 1: Performances featuring Songs of Resistance and Freedom
Part 2: The Celebration featuring a beginner salsa workshop and social with live music (no experience necessary!)

Mirrors: $3,000
Mirrors are vital in dance studios as they help dancers self-assess their technique, alignment, and posture in real-time, ensuring precision and reducing injury risks. They aid in group synchronization, spatial awareness, and refining movements for a polished performance. Additionally, mirrors allow dancers to track progress and build confidence as they improve.
Lights: $3,000
At Navatman, we take pride in hosting international-level shows that bring the finest of Indian artistry to our community. To continue delivering these exceptional performances, we aim to enhance our productions by installing professional-grade lighting systems, ensuring a more immersive and refined experience for our audiences.

Studio Space: $15,000
As Navatman grows with an increasing student count and the launch of our Artist Residency Program, welcoming artists from other schools, we are expanding our studio to meet these evolving needs. This development will provide a more dynamic and collaborative space, ensuring our community continues to thrive.
Showcase: $5,000
Equipment: $5,000
So far, we have raised $12,273 / $25,000 -
Only 51 more people are needed to donate $250, or 13 people to donate $1000 to help us reach our goal!
And yes, Navatman can accept matching donations! Please donate and reach out to [email protected] with any questions
Any amount helps, and if it's of value, Navatman is a 501(c)3 arts organization, so your donation can be tax deductible. In addition, many companies may match your donation (!), doubling your contribution.
If you feel any value in what we've been able to do with you all this upcoming year, and/or it makes you feel good to give back to Navatman, please consider donating these next few months!
